Religious Education Curriculum Aims

At Sedgeberrow First School, our RE curriculum is designed to help pupils:


1. Make Sense of Beliefs

Pupils will:

  • Identify, describe, and explain religious and non-religious beliefs using appropriate vocabulary.
  • Understand how beliefs are interpreted differently by individuals and communities.
  • Explore sources of authority (texts, teachings, traditions, leaders) and develop skills of interpretation.

2. Understand Impact and Significance

Pupils will:

  • Examine how people express beliefs in diverse ways.
  • Recognise how beliefs influence actions in daily life, communities, and the wider world.
  • Appreciate the significance of different ways of life and expressions of meaning.

3. Make Connections and Reflect

Pupils will:

  • Reflect thoughtfully and creatively on key concepts and questions.
  • Challenge and be challenged by the ideas studied, articulating their own beliefs and values.
  • Connect ideas studied to their own understanding of the world, expressing personal reflections with clarity.
